MOOMBAHTON! Q&A w/ Dave Nada + many awesome free tracks!

LFOD: What is Moombahton?

DAVE: moombahton used to be just slowed down dutch/tropical house records edited to give a reggaeton vibe. now it's starting to develop into a new monster. basically think electronic dance vs bass vs reggaeton vs dancehall at around 108 bpm with lots of latin influences. you can see it in the name too..."moombah" is the afrojack remix/house music reference and "ton" is the reggaeton/latin reference. a fun new marriage of sound. i feel that moombahton offers a different energy to dance music culture. as a dj, it's pretty refreshing to play.

LFOD: How come that you started producing this kind of music?

DAVE: it was a total accident. the short version of the story is that i was djing my cousin's skipping party (where you skip school to go to a party) and everyone was dancing to reggaeton and loving it. all i had were my house records, and i didn't want to fuck up the vibe and piss off the crowd, so i slowed my records down to reggaeton tempo and the kids went crazy. after seeing that, i started to make edits to try out them out on tours and they started going over really well. T&A records released those edits as 2 promo EPs (Moombahton & Punk Rock Latino). It took off like crazy and now i'm producing original moombahton tracks along with moombahton remixes. Nadastrom is focusing on making original moombahton tracks now as well.

LFOD: Best way to dance to Moombahton?

DAVE: grab a partner and get your grind on! haha. i've been getting tons of great feedback saying moombahton is very sexy and fun to dance too. i think it's because it's very tropical and not as intense to dance to like most electronic dance music, which usually plays around 126 bpm to 140bpm. it may not be as fast but the energy of moombahton is big and i feel like that's what drives it home for most people in the club.

LFOD: Is a bigger release yet planed? Like an album or compilation?

DAVE: i've got some big plans that i can't talk about just yet, but Nadastrom is collaborating with Munchi, a young gifted producer from Rotterdam who we think is taking the genre to a new exciting level. Nadastrom is working on an album at the moment and there will definitely be some moombahton in there.

LFOD: Who are other noticeable Moombahton Making acts?

DAVE: Munchi is definitely raising the production bar for moombahton. i'm also really feeling A-Mac, The Philadelphyinz, Heartbreak, DJ Melo, Sabo from NYC, and Sonido Rampage & Nader. These are my personal faves, but there are lots of upcoming producers making quality edits and original moombahton that i play out in my sets. Even highly acclaimed producers like Lazaro Casanova and Diplo are making moombahton!

Thanks Dave!

Also, GET YOUR GRIND ON ;)

Hammer Gut!

Tracklist (Download - Track and then RCSA):

It's all about MashUps and Bass!

Tracklist (Download - Track and then RCSA):
or if you want to preview the tracks, STREAM here.

Viel Spaß beim Hören und thanx for tuning in!
